Network Upgrade:

Hunting Resource Community Improvements

Like most hunters, we at Hunting Resource have been gearing up for the upcoming season. With the lazy days of summer drawing to a close, outdoorspersons naturally begin to funnel back in to their favorite online outdoor-related social networking site: HuntingResource.com. This year, members will be met with serious feature improvements to the network. While the look and feel largely remains the same, the engine driving the Hunting Resource Community has more horsepower than ever. Read on for just a taste of what you can expect.

HR LoginFacebook & Twitter Login Credentials

Hunting Resource Community members can now login to their accounts using their Facebook and Twitter credentials. The integration does not end there, however. Members will be able to synchronize many features from status updates, "tweets" and even their profile pictures between these services and Hunting Resource should they choose to within their profile settings.

Search EngineRevamped Search Engine

Content has never been easier to find within our network. This is because each individual application is now searchable with its own custom filters. So, whether it be a topic, gallery image, or blog entry, you will be able to find precisely the material you're looking for.

Status UpdatesStatus Updates Merge with Facebook & Twitter

The Status Updates engine has seen several improvements. Most notably, members can now comment directly on each others' statuses. There is also a new Community Statuses page - accessible at the bottom of the Recent Status Updates list - which allows all member statuses to be viewed and commented on at once. Member profiles have also been updated with a new tab to show a history of that member's status updates, as well as an overview of comments they've given on other status updates. Finally, Facebook and Twitter status integration means that members can bring their external statuses from those sites into the HR community network, and vice-versa if they so choose via their profile settings.

Social BookmarksSharing Links & Facebook Like This

We have extended our social bookmarks from the HR Blog system to the entire Community. Now, every single gallery image, blog entry, topic, and reply can be instantly shared on other Social Networking sites with the click of a mouse. Facebook "Like This" functionality also allows members to instantly add links to Hunting Resource content to their Facebook profile.

HR MobileMobile Device Skin & IPS iPhone App

We are very excited to now offer a mobile-friendly version of the Hunting Resource Community Network. This new mobile skin is touch-screen-friendly and much lighter in resource usage. This saves on loading time and data plan funds for those surfing the Hunting Resource Community Network from their mobile device. Additionally, there is an iPhone App available from IPS (Invision Power Services) for our forum software with an app coming soon for the Android. These apps allow for easy synchronization between your computer and mobile device as well as several other features.

Topic PreviewTopic Preview

Clicking the new Topic Preview icon in the topic listing or search results views shows the first and latest posts of a given topic without leaving the current page. We're sure that topic preview will be a welcomed time saver for all.

There are several other new and exciting features at the Hunting Resource Network. The best way to find out about them is to simply dive right in and use them for yourself.

HR Live ChatThe Hunting Resource Live Chat is new and improved. Members will no longer have to worry about downloading Java updates as the new chat engine is driven by AJAX and DHTML. This makes the chat much more accessible as well as customizable. Several new features are already in place with more to come. HuntingResource.com has held several chat sessions with outdoor television personalities, for example, over the years and we believe that the new live chat will allow us to bring an even better organized experience in the future than ever before. Check it out for yourself today by logging in to the HR Community Forums and then clicking the "Chat" link at the top of the page. (Note: There is a "Members active in live chat" list at the bottom of the forum summary page to indicate when users are chatting. Some HR members chat evenings around 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.)
